Kyle Plummer of Cambria won the CLA California Teen video competition. His video "You Are Here" showed teens of all ages reading and sharing books throughout their community. Kyle wins a cash prize for himself and also the Cambria Library. You can view his video here:

Teen Video Competition

Vote for local videographer Kyle Plummer in the California Library Video competition. You can decide on which video is the best!

Kyle's You Are Here video was shot on a Canon Vixia HEM 31--a high-definition camera that uses AVCHD--and it was edited on a PC.

The submitted videos have been uploaded to http://www.youtube.com/user/CAteenvideo, where beginning March 4, teens all over the state will be encouraged to vote for their favorite(s), by clicking on the video's "like" button. The three videos with the most "likes" will go on to the final judging, where a winner will be chosen by a panel of librarians and video professionals based on creativity, message clarity and relevance, motivation and inspiration, and overall impact. Winners from the participating 30+ states will be entered in the national contest and the winning video will become the public service announcement for the nationwide Summer Reading Program.

3rd Annual Art Competition - Cloud Star/San Luis County Library

Congratulations to the winners of the 3rd annual Summer Reading Art Competition. The winner for the You are Here category is Mark Greenelsh. The winner for the One World, Many Stories category is Monica Hoskins.

Enter your artwork and win $250. You can also get your artwork on the Summer Reading Program Bags for 2011. The themes for the art must be "One World, Many Stories" or "You are Here". There are more technical requirements, so for more information call 781-5775. All submissions must be in to the San Luis Obispo Library by December 15th, 2010.

Winners of Flipped Premier Tickets

Congrats to our winners of Flipped Premier tickets. The author of the book, Wendelin Van Draanen, was there to greet all the winners that night. As an added surprise, the stars of the film were also there! Thank you again to everyone who participated in this great fundraiser for libraries all over SLO County!

Teen Book Discussions

Come join us for a view changing discussion of Sherman Alexie's novel "Absolutely True Diary of Part-Time Indian."
